A huge congratulations to our Year 9 boys football team, who are Derbyshire County Cup Champions for the second year in a row! An incredible achievement — and one that has never been done before in our school’s history.
It was an outstanding final between two strong sides, with both teams battling hard from start to finish. Swanwick took a 1-0 lead in the first half thanks to a fantastic finish from Matt M. Early in the second half, Dronfield equalised from the penalty spot to make it 1-1.
Our boys responded brilliantly, showing resilience and determination to keep pushing forward. With chances for both teams, the game remained level at full time and went straight to penalties.
Stepping up with confidence were Noah, Jack, Jesse, Layton and Matt. All penalties taken were converted, but Matt didn’t need to take his thanks to two superb penalty saves from Will M in goal! 
Man of the Match: Will MA match-winning performance, making two outstanding saves in the penalty shootout and showing composure when it mattered most.
This team continues to show outstanding character, resilience and a winning mentality in every game, always finding a way no matter what challenges they face. We are incredibly proud of every player.
