Yesterday, we were delighted to host our Year 12 Science Research Symposium at Swanwick Hall School. The event brought together staff, parents and students to celebrate the outstanding work of our sixth form scientists.

Our Year 12 students presented their research posters with remarkable passion, pride, and confidence. Each student (or group) explored a scientific topic beyond the taught curriculum, demonstrating genuine curiosity and a commitment to independent learning. From cutting-edge physics to real-world medical science, the breadth and depth of topics on display were truly impressive.

What made the evening particularly special was the way students engaged with visitors. Articulating complex ideas clearly, responding thoughtfully to questions, and showcasing the resilience and enthusiasm that defines our science cohort.

This project is entirely extra-curricular, requiring students to dedicate significant time and effort outside of lessons. Their achievements reflect not only academic ability, but also exceptional motivation and intellectual curiosity.

Now in its second year, the symposium continues to grow and evolve, becoming a cornerstone of our enrichment offer in science. It is inspiring to see how the standard of work—and the confidence of our students—has developed even further this year.

As Head of Science, I could not be more proud of what our students have achieved. They have truly embodied the values of inclusivity, resilience, and respect, and have set a fantastic standard for future cohorts. #Teamswanwick #Teamscience #Smashingit
